Welcome to “Fauxtography from Space” by Bill Oakes -- fantastical landscapes from somewhere in the universe.

For five years Bill worked on paintings and constructions depicting imaginary planets, above which viewers would hover and look for signs of life. That exhibit “Life Signs: Other Worlds, Other Voices” was hosted by the Museum of Science in Boston during one of the Cyberarts festivals. Feeling the need for closer scrutiny, Bill embarked on the adventure of imagining what it would look like if he landed on the surfaces of some of these planets and took photographs – since these creations are illusionary they’re really “fauxtographs.” Here are some of the results. Enjoy your trip!
